Unleashing Awareness: Break Free from Mental Blocks and Rediscover Connection
An AMP Session To Help Soothe Your Thinking
Peace Overtures Today is a weekly newsletter dedicated to guiding individuals on their personal quest for inner peace. Each week, I share a movie that helped me discover balance. It’s a process of awareness and healing that leads to sparks of joy. I’m sincerely grateful to have you here with me.
We created Peace of Mind Overtures to assist people in discovering balance in five key areas of life: mental, physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual aspects. When one aspect is out of balance, it has an impact on the others, as shown in this graphic. When all aspects are in balance, it leads to a state of peace of mind.
In the span of the last 15 years, we have developed over 700 Alignment Movie Process (AMP) sessions to help individuals discover this balance in the key areas of life. In this week's post, we will focus on exploring the connection between the mental, physical, and spiritual dimensions of being alive.
If you find yourself feeling stuck in your thinking and struggling to feel connected, this AMP session may help elevate your awareness and open new possibilities. Explore the excerpt from our book, It’s Just Commerce: Returning Balance to Business, for fresh insights on how to work with yourself.
Soul is Energy
The soul is defined as the spiritual or immaterial part of a human being or animal, regarded as immortal. It is a unique consciousness that manifests the mind and body experience. Deepak Chopra defines it this way:
“ The soul is a living dynamic part of each person. It exists in consciousness and therefore must be found in consciousness.”
Think of your soul as consciousness energy that is uniquely you. It’s actually the bigger part of you that can go unrecognized when we’re unaware. Your consciousness is the energy required for life in your body and it has collaborated with the Divine to create the matter of your physicalness. Our life experience is so deliciously filled with physical and mental sensations that we lose sight of the fact that we are indeed unique conscious energy.A much larger part of us is our soul that is having a say in the intent for our lives.
If this is true, then what keeps us from recognizing this bigger energy that makes up our soul? Our attachment to the mind and body disconnects our awareness and we become unaware or unconscious.
The Mind and Body
The mind and body are very much alive and want to live. The very nature of life is that it’s an experiment and we’re allowed to have total free will to play out the experiment, as we desire. Our minds and bodies help us to experience life in ways that teach us.Without the physicalness of being alive we wouldn’t recognize the contrast and as a result, miss out on the fabulous learning that’s possible.
We’ve all heard much talk that it’s our egos that keep us from the awareness of our soul, the bigger part of each of us. The ego is the part of the mind and body that mediates between the conscious and the unconscious. It is responsible for reality testing and a sense of our mind and body’s personal identity. When we can see that our egos are apart of the mind and body we can see why we’d lose our connections to the awareness of the soul. The mind and body want to live, to be seen, and to fully express life. Our evolution as humans has made this part of our physicalness increasingly mind and body focused. We get entangled by the senses and it diminishes our conscious soul awareness, believing we are our thinking. We become attached to our mind/body identity and forget we’re so much more. As our DNA has evolved, these human ego patterns have become deep grooves that persist.
When our original animal nature becomes out of balance we get stuck in our identities. Jack Kornfield reminds us that,
“Too much of the animal disfigures the civilized human being.Too much culture makes for a sick animal.”
Soothe The Ego
When you can see that your mind and body is expressing itself as the so-called ego, negating it creates quite a struggle. The mind and body don’t want to be negated. So what do we do? Try soothing the ego. Knowing that your mind and body want a say, soothing becomes an overture to peace. It’s a feminine way of calming the ego. Find ways to soften what you recognize as your egoic nature. Ask your soul to help you discover ways to soothe your mind and body. Just by being aware of your ego as your mind and body expressing itself is a step towards soothing. It’s a way of opening up new ways of working together.
Remember, the emotions are often driven by the ego and are a by-product of the mind and body’s expression. This is a big topic and it’s worth seeking a deeper understanding, because it leads to more awareness, more peace.
Struggling with The Mind
When you first start recognizing the mind’s incessant way of being, trying to stop it is analogous to attempting to stop “The Terminator.” Think about the machine in the movie, The Terminator (James Cameron, 1984). The Terminator, famously portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger is an unstoppable cyborg. Nothing can contain or stop the Terminator from completing its mission. The cyborg is exceptionally powerful, intelligent, and quickly adapts to any situation. He seems indestructible and the more you try to stop him using force, great destruction is left in his path.
When working with the mind, don’t negate it, take your time, and find ways to work with it.There’s no way to terminate it, so you need to find ways to soothe it.There are numerous ways to begin slowing the mind down through mediation, yoga, exercise, and taking care of your body. In our book, Taming Your Dragons, we have music, movies, and essential oil suggestions that can help with this process. Regardless of your choice, find ways that fit you and your lifestyle that help slow down the mind so it can begin working for you instead of against you.
The Terminator (1984) is an excellent AMP session for anyone seeking to soothe the resonance of your egoic patterns allowing more awareness to be discovered. If you want the benefits of this AMP film, just do The Intention Session first (see below) and then watch The Terminator film in it’s entirety.
