There's No Stopping This Change
An AMP Session Designed To Assist in Cultivating a More Empowering Perspective in the Face of These Tumultuous Times
Peace Overtures Today is a newsletter dedicated to guiding individuals on their personal quest for inner peace. Each week, I share a movie that helped me discover balance. It’s a process of awareness and healing that leads to sparks of joy. I’m sincerely grateful to have you here with me.
Profound changes are sweeping across our planet, affecting each and every one of us. The frequency of weather disasters is on the rise, our political discourse is sowing chaos, and people lives are being profoundly shaken. Without a doubt, we find ourselves amidst a transformative period.
In preparation for these emotionally charged times, I co-created a tool called The Alignment Movie Process (AMP). Each AMP session is designed to shift the resonance of emotional patterns, fostering a healing process and nurturing a newfound awareness that is both empowering and supportive. This week's AMP session focuses on cultivating a more empowering perspective in the face of these tumultuous times.
From my perspective, humanity has been yearning for change for a long time. Consider the profound societal shifts that took place in the 1960s. During that era, a movement advocating for peace, civil rights, the elimination of war, and numerous other initiatives promoting tolerance gained momentum. While many positive outcomes emerged from that period, it's essential to acknowledge that it was also marked by its own share of complexities and it got messy.
When a critical mass of individuals begins to recognize patterns that no longer serve their collective wellbeing and consequently aspires to enact change, new paradigms are discovered. This collective focus is far more profound and powerful than we currently comprehend.
The following excerpt is from our book: It’s Just Commerce: Returning Balance to Business and our Peace Overtures Radio podcast included in this post. If you prefer the podcast, you can listen to it below. At the end of the podcast, Sue-Anne features a helpful mini-session called: Willingness is Key.
To offer insight and assistance in maintaining resilience throughout these turbulent times, the AMP session The Lego Movie (2014) is a valuable resource. This movie vividly illustrates the consequences of attempting to thwart the natural course of change. It takes us through the intricate process of creation, a journey often characterized by its messiness and the temporary upheaval it brings during the transitional phases. It's in these moments of transition that new patterns gradually take shape, ultimately restoring equilibrium and harmony.
The Lego Movie was released in 2014. It’s a computer animated film about an ordinary Lego construction worker, named Emmet Brickowski, thought to be the prophesied ‘Special’. Emmet is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil tyrant named Lord Business from gluing the Lego universe into eternal stasis.
Within this AMP session includes the following key topics designed to assist you in the change that’s underway.
First, lets discuss some ideas around creation.
Anything New Creates Chaos First
There are countless interpretations of the Greek mythology story of Pandora and the unleashing of chaos that occurred when she opened the forbidden box or jar as it’s also translated as. All that was left was elpis, the Greek word for hope or as sometimes translated “expectant hope.”
The name Pandora is translated from Greek to English as, “all- gifted”,“all-giving”, and “all-endowed” and as the mythological first woman, she’s also seen as the giver of life. Pandora’s curiosity led her to seek the awareness contained in the box. We see the ensuing chaos released as a metaphor for the process of creation and how it always begins with chaos, until order and harmony emerge. The story gives us a clue to working with creation, the energies and chaos of life. These novel patterns take time before the new is revealed.
The Greek mythology story of Pandora reminds us that it’s “expectant hope” which is found in the heart and not the mind that allows the new to take form. This story has been told in such a pessimistic view for so long, that it could be a reflection of our fear of change. We inherently know that anything new, creates chaos first. Since we’re so afraid of chaos, we’d rather not look at what blessings may be contained in the jar or box of possibilities. We fear what could be released and unconsciously keep the box of creation locked away.
The Lego Movie helps us see that anytime your create something with legos, at some point you have to take them a part so you can build new projects. This is what I tell clients and ask them to remember that while the legos are being disassembled, it’s messy until the new design is created.
The Lego Movie allows us to see that all creation is messy at first. For those of you that garden, this is always the case. Some plants die and need to be replaced. At times you decide to do something new with a bed. What do you do when that happens? You have to break up the ground so you can plant the new.
Artists, authors, builders, chefs, and anyone that creates recognizes this messy first step. It’s the process of creation. So why do we get so unsettled with change when it’s an inherent part of creation?
Our Brains Like Patterns and Resist Entropy
According to famed physicist, Erwin Schrodinger, life is always in the process of seeking order found in the external environment. He believed that life is dependent upon the balance between efficiency of patterns and entropy (or loss of pattern).
At times, our brains resist any possibility of pattern disruption and in turn find ways to retain order and stability resulting in: “inflexible thoughts, emotions, opinions, skepticism, and beliefs.” This resistance looks like Bunkerism - railing against the change and resisting it at all cost. This is simply the brain’s nature - to limit evolving opportunities fearing and avoiding new information causing all of us at times to get stuck in our ways.
In The Lego Movie, notice how Lord Business wants his world to stay the same - forever. He does everything in his power to micromanage any and all revisions. He uses fear to keep others from even trying to do anything new. Later in the film, we learn this lego world is real and a young boy named Finn is playing with his Father’s creation. When his Dad, portrayed by Will Farrell, learns he’s trying to re-arrange his Legos, he chastises his son for ruining the set and proceeds to permanently glue his perceived perfect creations together.
This is how the brain resists entropy - too much change all at once can be so overwhelming that we get reactive, rigid, and would rather fight then allow the new to emerge.
So what do you do about it?
Bring Peace To The Resistance
In the film, Emmet is told that his role as The Special requires him to bring the Piece of Resistance which is the only device that can stop the Kragle who intends to destroy their world of Legos.
Change is always going to bring resistance on some levels - it’s just how our brains are wired. So the only way to work with change is to let go and flow with it.
Yeah - I know - easier said than done.
This AMP session offers resonance support that empowers you to achieve the following:
Letting Go of Resistance to Change: Facilitating the release of resistance you might harbor towards change.
Realizing the Impermanence: Encouraging a realization that the nature of existence is fluid, and nothing remains static.
Recognizing Imperfection: Reminding you that perfection is an illusion and that imperfections are inherent and valuable aspects of growth.
Softening Fear Amidst Chaos: Assisting in the gentle easing of fear typically experienced while assimilating the disruptions brought about by new patterns.
Embracing Change with Grace: Enhancing your ability to gracefully relinquish control and allow the unfolding of change.
Cultivating Flexibility: Fostering a mindset of adaptability and openness to the evolving circumstances.
Instilling a Desire for Peace: Nurturing a yearning to infuse tranquility into the changes you encounter, irrespective of their magnitude.
As climate change continues and other structures evolve - people will continue to become unsettled and many will become reactive. We’re seeing that happen now. During this change, we need others to bring peace to the reactivity. Leaders are needed to stay calm in the face of weather instabilities, loss, political revelations of misconduct, and business shenanigans,
It’s all part of our human evolution and the more we can realize that evolution requires change, then we’re better able to embrace the next key point in this AMP session.
This New Set Point is Unstoppable
In an unprecedented manner, a growing number of people are desiring more balance in all of our societal structures. Consequently, change is becoming an inescapable reality, whether we like it or not. As individuals intentionally strive to address dysfunctional societal patterns that have long persisted, we will discover a whole new set point of possibilities. This shift will be perpetuated and evolved by successive generations, thereby establishing a fresh and sustainable norm.
As I’ve mentioned in other posts, belief patterns are passed on to the next generation, thereby perpetuating enduring tendencies. This is primarily the reason why patterns persist for so many years. But these times are different and more expansive outcomes are possible like never before. A rapid evolution of a new set point is underway, poised to ultimately benefit society at large. There’s no way to go back to the good ole days. The genie is already out of the bottle and she’s not going back. The momentum for this change started a long time ago and it’s now gaining some traction. The intention of our work is to help people keep up with it and to adjust to these turbulent times.
This takes us to the key beneficial resonance upgrades to watching the AMP Session: The Lego Movie
